Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari submitted the final House of Representatives election results report to President Ram Chandra Paudel on Thursday, formally opening the path for a new government to be formed.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party emerged as the dominant force, winning 182 seats — nearly a two-thirds majority. Nepali Congress came second with 38 seats, UML third with 25, and Nepal Communist Party fourth with 17 seats.

Under Article 76(1) of the Constitution, the President will appoint the parliamentary party leader of the largest party as Prime Minister. The RSP plans to select its parliamentary leader after the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Chaitra 12. The oath of newly elected members will begin with the senior-most MP, 78-year-old Arjun Narsingh KC.

Coalition talks, ministerial portfolios, and parliamentary schedules typically follow certification; Neelopatra will summarize key milestones as they are confirmed.
