The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning of heavy rain with thunder, lightning, and strong winds across Nepal from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority cautioned that wind speeds could reach up to 119 km/h in the Terai districts of Lumbini Province and parts of Koshi Province including Biratnagar, Dhankuta, and Dharan.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, secure doors and windows, stay away from tall trees and power lines, and turn off sources of fire during strong winds. Recent days have already seen deaths and injuries due to sudden weather events.

Check the latest bulletin before travel; local authorities may issue additional ward-level guidance.
